Interim Deputy City Manager Greg Rushin

Gregory W. Rushin is the Interim Deputy City Manager for the City of Plano. He manages all Public Safety Departments which include: Animal Services, Emergency Management, Fire-Rescue, Police, and Public Safety Communications. Greg also continues to act as Chief of the Plano Police Department, where he has served since November 2001. He has a diverse background and over forty years of experience in public service serving at the municipal, county, and federal levels. 

Greg has held numerous leadership positions in both state and federal law enforcement organizations. He is an active member in his community, serves on multiple boards of directors, and is a Rotary member.

Greg began his career as a Deputy Sheriff in Illinois. He was also a FBI Agent, who served in the Washington, D.C. area during his tenure. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement Administration from Western Illinois University and Master of Science Degree in Human Relations and Business from Amber University. He also holds a Certificate in Public Management from the University of Texas at Dallas. He is a graduate of the FBI Academy, the FBI National Academy, the Senior Management Institute for Police at Harvard, and the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Program.
